Truitt Parrish

Truitt Parrished grew up in a small town where drawing dinosaurs was one of the few engaging activities and he aspired to become a paleontological artist. As he matured, Truitt's interests expanded to other art forms, leading him to study at CU Boulder, where he earned a BFA in Studio Art Practices. His thesis explored the "Hero's Journey" trope in the context of the War of the Roses.

Truitt has since painted a range of fantasy, historical, and narrative scenes. Despite a limited online presence, his work caught the attention of the creator of Sorcery TCG, leading to a focus on Sorcery and various freelance projects since 2020. Truitt remains grateful for his current projects and is excited about future opportunities.

I am very happy working for Sorcery and was pleasantly surprised when Erik reached out about Arthurian Legends. Coincidentally, I had recently developed an interest in Arthurian lore and had just bought a book on the subject as it pertains to history. I’ve mentioned this before, but my thesis for my BFA show in college was on the Wars of the Roses, which took place in England in the 1500s. Although King Arthur is said to have lived before this time and is steeped in myth and legend, there are definitely some similarities. Arthurian Legends felt like it was going to be right up my alley. I very much enjoy sharing my art with a wider audience. Having a fanbase is an interesting experience; mostly, I’m just happy that my art brings joy and excitement to others. I am very grateful for this assignment and excited to see what comes next!

Favorite Work in Sorcery:

Wyvern

Wyvern, from the Arthurian Legends set, is a favorite of mine. At least that I can share at this time! When I painted it originally, it was about the story of Sigurd and Fanfnir.
