Séverine Pineaux

After earning an art degree in Paris, Séverine Pineaux began her career creating illustrations for book covers (science fiction and fantasy), Dragon Magazine (French version), and various role-playing publishers.

Since then, she has become a painter, exhibiting her work worldwide. Her paintings depict a magical nature populated by dryads and animal plants. She incorporates her paintings into graphic novels, from which she drew some of her inspiration for Sorcery's Philosopher's Stone card.

She embarked on the Sorcery adventure in 2018 as one of the original artists in Sorcery's Alpha set. She lives in the forest of Brocéliande, an ideal setting for her work on Arthurian Legends. She also illustrates books on legendary and fantastic creatures such as dragons, unicorns, and cats!

The “Philosopher's Stone” was a very special creation for me. I drew some of my inspiration from drawings published in my book “Ysambre” for the strange manuscript look, from “Gothic Faerie” for the Ouroboros snake, and from a 16th-century engraving for the alchemist and the demon.
