Lindsey Crummett

Lindsey has been creating artwork for film, television, video games, tabletop games, collectibles, and art installations for over 16 years. After getting her Bachelor of Fine Arts in California she made the move to New Zealand to pursue work in the Film Industry.

During her 10 years at Weta Workshop, she worked on such titles as The Hobbit Trilogy and the upcoming Avatar Trilogy. After leaving the studio to work as an independent freelancer she began work on Sorcery: Contested Realm TCG.

She also sculpted many sold-out collectibles for The Hobbit Trilogy through Weta Collectibles. Currently, she works as a freelance concept artist, illustrator, and digital sculptor.

Preferred Medium:

My preferred medium is a hard choice, but I’d have to say oil painting. All of my Sorcery work is in oils. I’ve worked across so many mediums as a professional artist; traditional clays, digital sculpting in Z-Brush, pencils, Photoshop painting, and oils. I still use a mix of media, as I often mock up my pieces digitally before committing to paint, since I became fast that way during my time in the film industry. In my first Sorcery set, I digitally sculpted a few of the subjects, posed, and lit them to use as painting reference. Master painters like James Gurney sculpt and light their painting references, so I sometimes take advantage of being able to do this with digital programs! Ancient Dragon was a prime example of when I utilized this method.

Achievements:

I sculpted several Sold Out Collectibles (some given the title “Grail Collectibles” by collectors) through Weta Workshop for The Hobbit. A few are; Thranduil on Elk, Azog on Warg, and Galadriel at Dol Guldur. Oh and I suppose another achievement would be that I was an Orc in Return of the King, haha! I fought at the Battle of Pelennor Fields!
