This is my deck I have been working on since gothics drop after I heard from numerous people say that landmass was a bad card. That's obviously been proven wrong. My 5-1 record at gen con was a good showing and there was a good chance of being 6-1 3rd or 4th place overall if the convention didn't start flooding. My only loss was to Ira on Earth/Fire Deathspeaker. Twas a good game but he had Garden of Eden early and i was not able to answer it. And then finished me off with 2 craterizes in a row followed by a Balor for the confirm. So was quite the sequence of events.
While being a ramp deck my main goal for this deck is not to get to 10 site as fast as i can but actually 5-7(depending on your first few draws) and start double drawing every turn. The goal here is to be playing 2 cards a turn and overwhelm your opponent with value. I originally had a few more elites and uniques in the deck but with the advent of the Court of Equity i felt i needed to trim down to the essentials. No more conqueror wurm or Rhitta Gawr. I use later drawn ramp to hit my 7-10 sites. There is potential with some draws to go for a land lock strategy and block them for getting any further sites. Opening hand I am looking for a couple simple things. Ramp(Core, Frontier Settler and Landmass) as many as possible. I'll keep starting hand of 3 ramp spells but I wont mulligan to try and achieve this. Stabilizers like Earthquake and Archangel Michael I almost will never mulligan.
Garden of Eden. The bane to our whole strategy. Its beatable and I have well positioned the deck to counter it without losing much identity. Sinkhole an Heirloom lost are our best answer to it. I'll even earthquake to move the garden up and sinkhole. When garden of eden is out with sorcerer it is better to draw sites for turn and if not the ones you need then tap the avatar to draw a spell.
Site placement. My favorite site to start on is Impenetrable copse followed by a briar patch to halt early ward aggression or pebbled paths. I tend to not like using sinkhole early unless i have site advantage via ramp or land surveyor. I dont like holding sites in hand and will play out my heirloom losts and such as needed. I feel its better to hit curve over losing tempo to maybe make better use out of the utility sites.
