Overview
The Fallen Magician leverages fast mana and reanimation to deploy massive threats far ahead of curve. Most games revolve around one of three primary game plans.
Using Raise Dead, Boneyard, and Orpheus' Crossing, the deck is capable of reanimating game-ending threats as early as turn two. Sisters of Avalon, Forgotten Tomb, Dreadwing, and Chorus of Condemnation quickly stock the cemetery, with Chorus also disrupting your opponent's hand for just one mana. Once the graveyard is established, threats like Conqueror Worm, Great Old One, Lord of the Void, and Doom of Dilmun can quickly take over the game. Raise Dead is especially powerful, allowing you to summon anywhere in the realm and pressure key sites immediately.
Wirh the use of Mix Aer, 4 waters, and tower sites, The Fallen Magician rewards explosive starts but accepts occasional inconsistency. Occasionally, you'll draw too few sites to cast your spells efficiently, while others you'll draw your payoff threats before your acceleration or graveyard enablers. It's the tradeoff for piloting one of Sorcery's most explosive and rewarding avatars. This is mainly why the Highland Princess is included- to fetch a Mix Aer. Or if you have a threat in the board, you can user to find the Amulet of Ninane to keep that threat on the board.
If Mephistopheles is in your opening hand—or Browse can find him early—he often becomes the deck's primary game plan. While a turn-two Mephistopheles is possible, turns three and four are usually much stronger. By then, you've developed enough mana to continue casting cards from your collection after giving up the ability to play sites, and the realm is typically connected, allowing the demons and monsters he summons each turn to immediately threaten your opponent. Left unanswered, Mephistopheles quickly overwhelms the board, transforming the Magician from a fragile setup avatar into a relentless engine that buries opponents under an endless stream of oversized threats.
Silver Bullet is rarely a "silver bullet" in this deck. Instead, it serves as additional copies of Sisters of Avalon, ensuring one of the deck's strongest graveyard enablers is available when needed.
*update*
This is a multi-purpose card that im testing out. It offers another mortal to transform with Sinister Pond (another new addition) and synergizes nicely with Dhol Chants (a new one as well). Additionally, because Reanimate brings back a RANDOM minion, its increase your chances of reanimating the minion you want by removing the others. Plus, cemetery hate can be strategic at times, such as when facing Flamecaller or Deathspeaker.
