Goal: Generate a bunch of mana and use the built-in card draw of the deck to overwhelm our opponents with our mana and card advantage.
Methodology: The main resource this deck needs is time. If we keep ahead or equal on tempo, we can play proactively defensive until we draw into our draw and snowball that draw into more draw, absolutely skyrocketing our tempo past what our opponents can keep up with.
To this end, we have a lot of high tempo cards in the deck, making it so if we hit them instead of more draw or ramp, we can’t complain. Then, because we carry recursion and numerous high mana threats, we’ll be able to gain the tempo advantage over almost any deck at some point.
Key Points:
Spell Mulligan: If you draw a big threat or draw card, keep it, particularly Maiden, Mother, Crone. No more than one though. If you get a tempo card, keep that as well. Mana is a high percentage of the deck, so you will be able to draw more reliably into that than anything else.
Land Mulligan: Troll Bridge and Thin Ice are great for your front row, but as long as you can get the threshold you need, you’re good to go.
