This is the deck that went 3-0 in the Top 8 Draft from Season 1 of Summit League Limited. The Collection cards are the cards that I drafted and considered including.
Basic idea of the deck is to try and get the tempo and then keep their stuff off the board. On the play it is very easy, you just get a 2 drop out and then keep clearing whatever they play and pushing damage. On the draw I ended up being happy to take 1 for 1 trades hoping to eventually card advantage into the drivers seat or setup a blowout with things like Sentinel Trap or tricks for breaking parity like Hand of Glory, Town Priest, Angry Mob, Death Knight, etc.
Cool Combos and Synergies in this deck:
- Town Priest + Ignited
- Death Knight + 5 undead 2 drops
- Mazuj Ifrit + Enraged Familiar (the familiar will always be 4 power on your turn because of Ifrit's "downside")
- Detonate serves as finisher and combos away the downside to Sentinel Trap and Hand of Glory
- Sentinel Trap's main downside is that if your opponent can get under it they can kind of use it to their advantage, but Detonate allows for the surprise blowup
- Hand of Glory is too risky to put on a minion usually, but with Detonate you can use it more like a trinket and have an out for after they take it from you
- Blessed Village + Corruptor Freak (small upside combo, but cool if you have it)
Fun things that happened with this deck in the Finals:
- Managed to Lord of Greed to steal a toolbox and grab my lash out of collection for a kill
- Did Hand of Glory on a Noisome Twosome to trade with a 3 drop and have the skelly pick up Hand. Opponent uses Ravenous Werewolf to kill the 2 power skelly and then I just Detonate to blow up the Werewolf on the next turn (and hit their avatar for 3). Not strictly speaking a "good trade" in number of cards for number of cards but huge tempo play
- Got the Enraged Familiar + Mazuj Ifrit combo in the finals and it was just oppressively powerful to have two 4 power minions that early.
- Had a 4 power Flaming skull running the board in one game thanks to Hand and Death Knight
Biggest strength of the deck isn't actually all the cute little combos, but the super solid spread of Removal. Spells that could serve as removal in this deck were: Sentinel Trap, Begone, Buried Alive, Trial by Fire, Angry Mob, Town Priest, Ignited, Ravenous Werewolf, Wild Fanatic, Hand of Glory, Detonate. That is almost half the deck, with a good balance of minions that double as removal, multi-use psuedo-removal, and classic hard removal.
