Tournament Report:
Round 1 v Necromancer. An early jihad and 2 corruptor freaks put the pressure on and I didn't let up. Made a near fatal mistake and forgot to take out a blocker at the end but hung on and finished with a searing truth 1-0
Round 2 v AoA. Drew 2 begones in my opening hand and figured I'd play a little slower and let them cast bombs to banish. Proceeded to get hit by boulders while he cast 3 minions the whole game. Begones don't work on boulders. This player is in the top 8 tomorrow. 1-1 (edit - made Top 4)
Round 3 v Bonekite Dragonlord. Back and forth game. Wuthering heights plus corruptor freaks. Drew both toolboxes used one to just a rock his Amulet and then finished him off with firebreathing with both of us at door. Also could have detonated the rock he was still holding but he was newer and I didn't want to do him that dirty. 2-1
Round 4 mirror match v mono fire persecutor. Thought Jihad turn 2 would give me the edge but we raced to double door and he ate me with a Monstrous lion before I could searing truth him. 2-2
Round 5 v mono fire Pathfinder. A new player who I helped with deck building during sealed the day before. (He went 3-0 before he dropped to play Magic (he'll learn)). Early trades with minions and a top deck Angry Mob to nuke the balor he played the turn before then pressure til I took him with searing truth 3-2
Round 6 v Waveshaper. This opponent actually conceded to me prior to the game because I was placed higher and had better tiebreakers so maybe I could top 8. A true gentleman. We played for the tickets and he won but not before I cast blaze of glory to kill 6 of the 7 frogs he had plagued me with.
Overall I was very happy with how the deck performed. I expected the deck to be a coin flip most of the way and it was with some lucky draws against tough matchups and lots of Double Door endings. I will probably continue to tinker with this and it may stay my main through Cornerstone season. Not sure I will get a chance to play in another Grand Contest but if I do I think I would try and build it into a bit more of midrange deck but still favoring speed and offense.
