I've stolen "My Body as a Shield" by Roaring Turkey and i'm going to Frankenstein it into a control deck. Woe unto all who follow in my path
Initial thoughts and changes to the original:
Initially i disliked pixies and felt their inclusion unwarranted, but i've since changed my mind for the most part. [Sugarplum Pixies] are good for setting up the happy place, which is what i'm calling the ideal place for your avatar to be, front and middle land in a 2x3 land arraignment with a [Poisonous Dagger] in your hands. [Belfry] also does this, but without the airborne body to block your blindspots, lands 2 and 4.
Oftentimes Turkey's decklist gets into an attritional battle where you are attempting to outlast your opponent until you draw into a bomb or a huge card advantage swing, and i seemingly never hit it or by the time i do, i'm on death's door, and it cant stop my opponent from closing me out. I've added two copies of [Angel's Egg] back into the deck as well as [Pact with the Devil] with the hope of giving you more time to draw into card advantage and giving you more sources of it. Also pact works really well with [Adept Illusionist]
Artifacts can be a real issue for the turkey deck, especially the Omphalos (Omphali? Omphaloses?). These basically lose you the game if they are allowed to live, because they ensure your opponent has the resources to match your trades and answer your threats. [Toolbox] into [Drown] is the best you've got for them and that's only once. [Swap] could also place them in the subsurface, but they still work down there, and especially when against water they're still casting minions down there. There are really no good answers in the base deck, and Castle's Ablaze typically feels pretty dead in the hand, so i've slotted in 2 copies of [Acid Rain]. These turn sites and artifacts like the Omphalos off AND force your opponent to disenchant them instead of your Avatar's doomstack of equipment (Poisonous Blade is so good in an ironclad deck). To make space for this and the previous change, i've thinned out the lower curve of the deck, which should also help ensure you draw useful cards later in the game, which was another early feeling of mine.
Peasant Revolt is Dope. It probably friendly-fires a control deck, but I end up playing into a lot of pathfinders and it is so hilarious to watch them go from 7 mana to 2
The original vision for an ironclad control deck endgame was something like [Powerwish], and that very much requires earth threshhold. It remains to be seen how to cram that in.
Collection changes:
Boil is so in, everyone and their mom is playing water right now, and so are you.
