This build is an evolution of the previous “Mortal Toolbox” deck. In this version, the Sorcerer has been replaced with the Corruptor, transforming all of our Mortal influence into Undead. This single change dramatically increases synergy and card advantage across the deck.
By leveraging powerful draw engines such as Assorted Animals, Browse, Dream-Quest, King’s Council, Black Mass, Unlikely Alliance, Necronomiconcert, and Queen of Midland, Highland Princess, the deck consistently keeps its hand full while deploying threat after threat.
Below is a breakdown of the key draw packages and how they fuel the strategy.
During playtesting, Necronomiconcert alone drew 9 cards in a single cast—absolutely insane value and a testament to how efficiently this deck converts board presence into resources.
The main deck includes 2× Bury as reliable removal. 3x Root Spiders, 3x Gargantula, and 3x Pudge Butcher, with the Spiders beingfetchable with Assorted Beasts. In addition, the deck runs 3 Toolbox slots to answer situational problems, including options such as:
This flexibility allows the deck to adapt to a wide range of matchups without sacrificing consistency.
Spell efficiency is further enhanced through cost reduction and ramp, including:
Notably, Frontier Settlers also provides an Undead Mortal chump blocker, contributing both acceleration and board presence—exactly what this deck wants.
By converting Mortals into Undead and maximizing draw density, this build maintains constant pressure while rarely running out of gas. The result is a resilient, flexible deck that overwhelms opponents through relentless value and efficient spellcasting.
