Intro
I wanted to build a Necromancer but a little bit different. Steam made the most sense to me since Necro generates a good amount of value und early pressure with his skeleton army. In a way Necromancer mimics the early version of Druid. Necro doesn’t have the versatility and defensiveness of the backside but brings constant token generation to the table what makes him more aggressive than Druid in my mind.
Gameplan
In this version of the deck the tokens are getting reused in the mid to late game. Slobbermaw, The Elder Ruins, Gnarled Wendigo and Temple of Moloch are our best friends a long side our beloved Pnaktoic Manuscript for absolut sacrifice value. Because that’s not enough, Shapeshift transform all tokens into our big hitters. Polar Explorers adds early pressure by letting our tokens attack from the starting position. (Maybe adding Magellan Globe for that reason, but not sure). Combine this with the classic Steam Staples and Combos like cat, horse, Morgana, Bouddica, Sir Agravaine and u have a pretty good performing deck at ur hands.
Thoughts
Honestly this version is still very fresh and I think it can get a lot more fine tuned. Consistent card draw might be the weakspot of the deck like his predecessor Steam Druid. Key to success of the deck is utilize your tokens effectively by getting trades in but although considering tempo plays by attacking for damage and sacrificing them afterwards for value. Right now I’m considering playing jihad as well as torshammer trinket for taking effective trades and therefore gaining card advantage.
I feel like Necro has a lot of potential that’s why I hope that this version is NOT the only best option for this avatar!
Update:
*I dropped Monstermorphosis since it wasn´t that good in this version of the deck. It felt a bit clunky to use and didn´t offer a lot of tempo plays.
Furthermore the Orn Infestors did not do too much in this aggressive version of Necromancer. So I swapped them out for Sacred Stag - the new valuedrop at the horizon for Water!
Some changes will be made probably, like the addition of the Mimic. Since this element combination has not really any effective artefact hate, Mimic is one of the best options.
*And my hopes have been kept alive, since it is NOT the only best Version for the Necromancer. Shoutouts to MitchellW for his mostly mono Water list, with what he went 6-0 at SCG ATL Constructed. So make sure to check his list out and give it some LOVE as well!*
