The concept is based on what I had pulled and was able to trade for in a pinch on the day of an event I had. The concept of the deck was quite simple.
(NOTE: I didn't have time to create a sideboard. There will be a V2 with several additions to this deck list, this is again a deck made with short time and not a whole lot of trades to work with)
We play as a fast "Tempo" deck, a tempo deck basically means we want to play cards that will effect the board as soon / soon after it's put onto the board. Cards such as X Knight giving us a beater with Lance making a serious threat to the enemy early game. The nice part about Lance is we mostly get to decide when it gets used. So often times I'll keep the lance on the knight and strike the sites over and over again until the enemy is forced to attack them and usually have to send multiple minions to deal with it, or use a removal piece on what is basically a two drop for us.
Strengths: Fast results from various knights, lots of tutors, and can swap between heavy offense and heavy defense in a pinch
Weaknesses: Requires a bit of set-up, early game aggression and mass removal spells can doom the deck early as it has very few ways to play catch-up. Along with a sub-par Atlas that needs heavy improvement
Our starting hand depends heavily on what knights / sirs are in hand, remember that as Templar we basically can play them one turn early due to the discount he provides us. Ideally, a starting hand is a Knight (Sharing a threshold requirement of a Sir in hand), a Sir (It is preferred to get
Sir Gaheris or Ironside. Both of these Sirs provide fantastic defense and offensive options. alternatively, Sir Morien provides a great early play as well.), and a tutor / removal
Our sites in hand also want to provide us the thresholds we need. the Atlas deck needs the most work. I had more success mulliganing my sites looking for my thresholds than my spellbook attempting to find one to fit it. A few auto keeps would be Aqueduct, Windmill, and Ruins, as these provide threshold that a large majority of our tools want (Sadly as I said, not a lot of time to work with and most of my Sirs actually want Fire and Air, which is why Ruinsis damn near an auto keep in all matchups
I've faced a few decks, the hardest match up I had was mono-air and air-fire, as the pure speed and voidwalking minions made it quite hard to set-up. Usually my plan was to basically sick it up for a bit of the early game, focus heavily on getting minions out and prepare a large counter attack. If I got Sir Morien quickly, we can withstand a lot of damage. Getting an Ironside out during these games was actually insane.
This is my first completely built from the ground up deck and already see tons to improve upon this. Ideally in a few weeks I'll be posting a secondary deck with an improved Spellbook and Atlas.
Till next time, keep contesting the realm!
