Old primer below... I have completely changed this deck since AL... Very similar to Zalem's Witchfire at the moment. I don't have a witch but wanted to test his deck and this was already pretty close to Witchfire.
Hearts Burst into Fire
This deck aims to get minions in fast while burning away threats as it takes the enemy Avatar down to death’s door. Why did I decide to build instead of you ask? Two reasons. First, I got one box of Alpha from the Kickstarter, and I opened a FOIL Avatar of Fire. How could I not play it (in a very tough case, of course)? Second, I like to watch the Realm burn.
The majority of this deck’s minions hit the ground and start burning their enemies immediately. Cards like can remove enemy minions with damage from their Genesis ability while charges straight into battle. and can get minions in close right away and, even more importantly, out of the way of projectiles fired by Avatar of Fire. Though, is practically begging to get hit by a .
So far, this deck is completely untested, but I will be testing and updating it soon. One of the first changes I may test is adding some other spellcasters (such as ). This could help with some of the proximity issues Avatar of Fire may run into when trying to cast certain spells. Though, Avatar of Fire can go crazy with that technically casts spells.
“Thousand sparkles collide, igniting the cave. There's nowhere to hide, I'm the valorous, the brave.” -Rhapsody of Fire
By now I’m sure you’ve noticed I am splashing Air for this build. That is mainly to run a must have, , that helps take care of the proximity issues I’ve pointed out. Being able to cast , , and when and where Avatar of Fire needs to is absolutely vital to this deck’s strategy. Be sure to save removal for when you absolutely need it. Try to kill multiple enemy minions at once with one card–and hit your opponent’s Avatar–when possible.
Fire naturally struggles with card advantage. is here to draw cards when he hits the Realm and he is another spellcaster. Honestly, there should probably be two in the deck; however, I only currently have one left in my collection. Running at least one can potentially draw you more sites a.k.a. s.
“Someday I'll die but not tonight. Excuse me while I light up the sky.” -Thousand Foot Krutch
This deck might not be winning first place at large tournaments any time soon; however, its goal is to be competitive enough that you will have fun playing it on Sorcery night. If you love burning the Realm as much as I do then I hope this decklist/primer has been helpful for you. Please, feel free to make suggestions and ask questions in the comment section.
“Even through the darkest days. This fire burns, always. This fire burns, always.” -Killswitch Engage
