For Simon!
Goal is to get out and attacking! Here are some ways to help make that happen:
How to Draw the Captain
We have lots of spells that draw more spells. All the Wizards, plus Dream-Quest (which can only be played on a Wizard, not your avatar), plus Browse, plus Blink, Fade, and Geyser. Also, Erik's Curiosa, but don't rip it - instead, play Replication on it, and then rip the copy to get the Captain (make sure you bring an extra 1-2 captains with you from your collection!)
Also, there's a big card draw combo with Plague of Frogs + Pnakotic Manuscripts. Once they don't have summoning sickness, a frog can pick up the Manuscript, tap to draw a card, and die. Then the next frog can do the same thing. Repeat 7 times to draw 7 cards! Also note that you can do this to a lesser extent with Tadpole Pool, and you can copy Tadpole Pool with Mirror Realm. We also have one Observatory to help, plus quite a few Rivers.
Of course, we also choose Seer so we can sift through our deck as quickly as possible to find him.
We'll give ourselves time to find him by healing with Vampires, and generally using little blockers as needed (and eventually big minions).
How to Keep the Captain Alive
This is tricky, and he'll probably die. But we'll do our best! Dodge Roll is one trick, but only works against attacks. Fade can be good after he attacks once. You can get him into an unexpected attacking position with a Blink or Geyser (which can also be used to kill pesky Root Spiders). Also, you can keep him on your back row, and then attack anyway if Ruler of Thul enters play. You can also have defenders around him with the Princess or Wizards, etc. Also, you can make copies of him with Selfsame Simulacrum. If he does die, you can bring him back with Boneyard, and then maybe a second Boneyard if you copy it again with Mirror Realm. Remember that Erik's Curiosa can also get a site, so if you have an extra Boneyard and don't want to spend the 4 mana to cast him again, you can play another boneyard.
Also, the opponent may try to have defenders around so that he can't attack profitably. That's why we have Shrink, Pollimorph, and Drown. With the wizards around, we should be able to get them into position to help clear the way.
How to Use the Extra Cards Profitably
Once the Captain attacks, we get 3 free cards, from our deck or our opponent's, but we can only play them this turn. So, we need to have as much mana as possible. Highland Princess can get us Philosopher's Stone, which lets us save a lot of mana. We can drop the Stone, have a wizard pick it up, and let them cast spells, and we can even save more than 1 air and 1 water mana each turn! We include all the cores not because we need the threshold (since Captain's ability takes care of that), but simply because we want to have a lot of mana available.
