The Realm Gathers at SCG CON Dallas

This past weekend, Sorcerers gathered at SCG CON Dallas in Fort Worth, Texas, for three days of Sorcery, including the latest Grand Contest of the 2026 season.

After Saturday’s Constructed Grand Contest, eight players returned Sunday morning to battle for the title, and each brought a different Avatar into the Top 8.

By the end of Sunday, one participating Sorcerer had made it through the entire weekend without losing a match.

Every player in the SCG CON Dallas Top 8 brought a different Avatar:

You can find the full event list here. SCG CON Dallas took place during our transition to the new Sorcery Events System, so decklists were collected across both paper and digital formats. As a result, we have Avatar information for 63 of the 90 players listed in the event standings.

With the Sorcery Events System now fully online, its decklist-tracking tools will give us a more complete look at the field at future events.

Avatar of Air Steps into the Realm

Avatar of Air didn’t just make an appearance in the Top 8. A special shoutout goes to Desdymona, who brought the Avatar of Air to life through cosplay at the event! It was a fun surprise for players around the tables, and even more fitting as Avatar of Air made it all the way to Sunday’s championship match.

In recognition of the creativity and craftsmanship behind the costume, Desdymona received an uncut Gothic print sheet.

Around the Tables

Of course, the Grand Contest was only part of the weekend. Between rounds and events, there was plenty of time to catch up with friends, meet Sorcerers from other communities, check out what people were playing, and simply spend some time together around the tables.

The Road Ahead

The 2026 Organized Play season rolls on this weekend at SCG CON Baltimore, September 11–13, before heading to Prato, Italy, for the Grand Contest at Magic Maze, September 26–27.
