Everything You Need to Know About Avatar of the Realm 2026

Avatar of the Realm is just one month away!

From November 13-15, more than 300 Sorcerers are expected to gather at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf for our biggest event of the year. Avatar of the Realm is officially sold out, thank you to everyone who got their tickets!

For those attending, we've also sent an email with additional event details and important information to help you prepare for the weekend. Be sure to check your inbox (and spam folder) before arriving!

We’ve got plenty planned for the weekend, including the 2026 Avatar of the Realm Championship, the release of Frost Mage vs. Lavamancer, a gathering of Sorcery artists, and our first look at the upcoming set, Baldassare’s Travels.

Here’s what’s happening in Boston and how you can follow along from home!

Three Days of Sorcery

Friday, November 13 - Welcome to Avatar of the Realm!

The weekend begins with our opening welcome and the Frost Mage vs. Lavamancer Celebration Event! Doors open at 12:00 PM, with play beginning at 1:00 PM.

Friday also marks the official release of Frost Mage vs. Lavamancer, introducing 69 new cards to the Realm, including the new Trap mechanic. Every participating attendee will receive a Frost Mage vs. Lavamancer box set, and Friday’s event gives players their first chance to put the new cards to the test.

We’ll also introduce the Sorcery team and attending artists during our opening celebration, including featured artist Melissa A. Benson, whose artwork for the Lavamancer takes center stage in the new release.

Saturday, November 14 - Avatar of the Realm Championship

The 2026 Avatar of the Realm Constructed Championship begins Saturday morning! With over 300 competitors expected, players will battle through Swiss rounds for a place in Sunday’s Top 8 and a shot at the title of Avatar of the Realm Champion.

The first round begins at 9:00 AM. We’ll be following the action throughout the day as the field narrows to our final eight competitors.

Tournament Guidelines can be found here.

Sunday, November 15 - Finals, Keynote & Team Sealed

Our eight remaining competitors return to the tables at 9:00 AM to determine who will be crowned the 2026 Avatar of the Realm Champion!

At 12:00 PM, we’ll gather for the Avatar of the Realm Keynote, where we’ll share what’s coming next for Sorcery: Contested Realm - including our first look at Baldassare’s Travels, with a preview of cards and mechanics from the upcoming set.

Following the keynote and lunch, players can return to Frost Mage vs. Lavamancer in our Sunday Team Sealed event, using additional booster packs to expand and modify their decks.

Meet the Artists at Avatar of the Realm

Featured artists Melissa A. Benson and Vincent Pompetti will be joining us in Boston, alongside Alan Pollack, Jeff Menges, Ed Beard Jr., Drew Tucker, Sam McKinnon, Heidi Taillefer, Bryon Wackwitz, Scott Kirschner, and Liz Danforth.

Attendees can visit the artist area throughout the weekend to meet the artists, get their favorite cards signed, and browse original artwork and prints. We’ve also worked with Melissa A. Benson and Vincent Pompetti to create special commemorative prints for Avatar of the Realm 2026, available at the event!

The Erik’s Curiosa Booth

The Erik’s Curiosa team will be on-site with sealed Sorcery products and event merchandise. We’ll have Beta, Arthurian Legends, and Gothic booster boxes available, along with an exclusive Avatar of the Realm 2026 T-shirt created for the weekend.

Dragonlord will also be available to Avatar of the Realm and Family Pass ticket holders, limited to one per ticket holder, per day. We’ll set aside a Dragonlord for participants in the Avatar of the Realm Championship to ensure you have time to secure yours throughout the weekend.

Casual Play Throughout the Weekend

Looking for a game between scheduled events? Casual play space will be available throughout the weekend for registered attendees, outside of scheduled tournament use - open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a two-hour break midday for lunch.

The schedule graphic also shows Open Play hours in the Grand Ballroom for ticket holders, so there’s no shortage of chances to find a table.

Bring a deck, find an opponent, and enjoy some games with fellow Sorcerers!

Join Us From Home!

Can’t make it to Boston? We’ll be livestreaming throughout the weekend, including championship gameplay and our Sunday keynote presentation.

We’re also happy to welcome Rudeasaurus from Archives of the Realm and Sofie from Cardboard Guide, who will be joining us as community hosts for our livestream coverage!

We’ll See You in Boston!

There’s a lot to look forward to this November, and we can’t wait to welcome Sorcerers from around the world to Boston.

We’ll see you at Avatar of the Realm 2026!
