Introduction
This deck is built around one simple idea: control the Realm, control the game.
The goal is to use Water's unique tools to manipulate movement, expand your Bodies of Water, and constantly disrupt your opponent's plans. Cards like Flood, Riptide, Coy Nixie, Swap, and Stormy Seas help shape the battlefield in your favor while buying time to develop your board.
Rather than relying purely on removal, the deck controls the game through positioning, movement, and efficient creatures. Many of the minions are difficult to deal with, hit hard for their cost, or provide additional utility while they're on the board.
Sorcerer, Algor Omphalos, and Riptide help keep the cards flowing, while Overflow and Aquamarine Core accelerate you toward your bigger threats. Once the Realm is established and the Bodies of Water start growing, creatures like Anui Undine, Mester Stoor Worm, Seirawan Hydra, and Diluvian Kraken can take over the late game.
The deck can play defensively against aggressive strategies, but it isn't meant to sit back forever. The ultimate goal is to control the Realm long enough to create an opening—and then turn that control into pressure.
In short: build your waters, disrupt their movement, control the board, and unleash the monsters hiding beneath the surface.
Avatar
1x Sorcerer
Card draw. Sorcerer helps make sure you never run out of gas throughout the game.
Auras
1x Acid Rain
An interesting answer to Silence and opposing artifacts, while also helping slow down the opponent's game plan.
2x Mariner's Curse
A defensive Aura that helps slow down aggressive decks and gives you more time to establish control.
1x Silence
A powerful disruption tool that can shut down key parts of your opponent's strategy.
2x Flood
Helps expand your Bodies of Water, opening up more space for your Water-based threats and movement.
1x The Great Drowning of Men
When timed and positioned correctly, it can remove up to four opposing sites and completely reshape the Realm.
Artifacts
1x Aquamarine Core
Simple and efficient ramp that helps accelerate into the deck's more expensive threats.
1x Algor Omphalos
Another source of card draw that gives the deck more options and helps keep the engine running.
Minions
2x Polar Explorers
Flexible early-game minions. They can apply pressure early or help set up a long voyage across the Realm to eventually reach and finish the opposing Avatar.
2x Brobdingnag Bullfrog
Provides minion control while still bringing a respectable amount of power to the board.
3x Coy Nixie
Excellent for controlling movement throughout the Realm and disrupting your opponent's positioning.
3x Estranged Loner
Three mana for a 2-power creature that can later become 3 power. That's simply good value.
3x Guile Sirens
Offers strong positional control while still providing a solid body on the battlefield.
3x Lugbog Cat
Four power for only three mana. What more could you ask for?
2x Tufted Turtles
Difficult to remove efficiently, making them excellent defensive pieces for slowing down aggressive strategies.
3x Failed Mutation
Don't underestimate the fact that Magic doesn't affect it. That immunity can make Failed Mutation surprisingly difficult for certain decks to deal with.
2x Hyperparasite
Basically Gargantula in blue.
1x Lord of Unland
Still an experimental inclusion, but the ability to give your minions +1 Power is definitely interesting.
1x Selfsame Simulacrum
Can copy one of your own large threats—or simply become the best creature your opponent has on the board.
2x Anui Undine
Can become absolutely monstrous once you've established large Bodies of Water.
3x Giant Shark
Highly mobile and an excellent defensive threat, especially once the Realm is properly flooded.
2x Gloam Toads
Think of it as a blue Pudge Butcher, except it strikes instead of fighting.
2x Mester Stoor Worm
One of the deck's primary finishers.
1x Mother Nature
An experimental inclusion that provides additional card advantage.
1x Seirawan Hydra
Extremely difficult to remove, as it essentially needs to be dealt with through lethal damage.
1x The Green Knight
Excellent at controlling attacks and disrupting aggressive game plans. Its Deathrite can also potentially wipe out multiple creatures.
1x Diluvian Kraken
Another experimental finisher that gives the deck a massive late-game threat.
Magic
1x Polymorph
A flexible control tool for dealing with the board, particularly large opposing creatures.
4x Riptide
Movement plus card draw makes Riptide an excellent cantrip. It keeps the deck moving without sacrificing card advantage.
3x Overflow
Straightforward and effective ramp that helps accelerate into the deck's larger threats.
2x Swap
A versatile board-control tool that can also create unexpected attack angles and catch opponents off guard.
2x Stormy Seas
Additional creature control that helps keep opposing threats under control.
2x Call of the Sea
Powerful mass creature control that can completely change the state of the board.
