Disclaimer: I started playing constructed sorcery regularly in January of 2025, with very little prior TCG experience. I consider myself an average player at best, but I love the game and put a lot of thought in my decks so I decided to share some of my thoughts via more detailed primers. Always interested in suggestions/discussion!
Update 24/08/25
Over time I made some small adjustments to the deck, I shuffled some minions around - took shield maidens out, added [[Autumn Unicorn]], flip flopped a bit with Philo Stone and leprechauns, added the former back and benched the latter.
I'd the Main strength of the deck is that it can get ready to go on offense very fast, and force the opponent to make sub-optimal plays to fend off your onslaught of minions. Slow decks/greedy play-stiles often just get overrun. Weaknesses I'd say are the lack of 5-Power (or more) minions in the current meta, the reliance on to make the deck really click early on, and the fact that Water Sites render (and and to some extent ) useless... Steam Druids for example can be a nasty opponent, and are in vogue at the moment. An early will likely wreck you, but I think that's true for most decks.
I don't really think there's really a Plan A or B for the deck, the strategy will be to win by outdrawing/outpacing the opponent in any stage of the game. Sometimes you'll get there fast, sometime you'll have to outlast an opponent's initial set of cards and get ahead later in the game, as in vs. non-Sorcerer Avatars like Druid. Sometimes you'll fail.
In general it will be worth it to trade two minions for one 5-Power minions, but with things like Trinket, Ring of Morrigan, Desert Pings, Lances, Jihad, Kobold's Strike ability, Imp's genesis ability, Priamus' Lethal ability, Dragonette's projectile, etc., you can and should in reality often be able to trade one for one - it will be worth it to take the time, and look for lines that will make a trade like this possible. Boudicca, Warp Spasm and Gigantism can bring unexpected huge damage swings that turn a close game in your favor.
Opening Hand - I think there's an easy algorithm: No in Hand - Mulligan for three Sites. Town In Hand - Mulligan towards double threshold Sites, or Deserts If you have a Giantess already. The Best possible Opening Hand is double threshold site (alternatively a Village will do), Town and a Desert, along with a Giantess and two of Yellow Knight/Powries (if double threshold on turn one)/Kobolds/Dragonettes (if double threshold on turn one). A Second Giantess would of course be fine also. Ideally you'll want to have two double threshold sites, a town and a desert in play - If you do, you can start drawing two spells with 4 sites in play, but you'll want to have a fifth site ready in hand. If you don't see Town in the first nine sites (opening hand, mulligan and three draws) you'll have to settle with 5 sites in play with the sixth ready to play. Sometimes you'll get an extra site from a Leprechaun (if running them) which will speed things up.
Auras:
I just stick with for the moment, due to the sheer number of Fire Minions. should be a fine pick also.
Artifact:
Here's where I differ most from Sorcelled's deck. I don't think the cores are necessary... I don't know how wise my approach is, but I don't mind knowing to what plan I'll have to stick to when it comes to playing sites, and I really just want to draw Minions and Magic starting from turn four or so. needs no introductions, and I think two is a sweet spot.
Minions:
is of course very useful with the 2 damage on spawn, helps against flying units, can be a killspell, can wake up Giantess...
is just good value for the cost.
the two threshold requirement is annoying, but 4 power for 3 mana is very good and I like having at least one 4-power minion to go toe to toe with and even 5-power minions with some help.
good value and can wake up Giantess, killspell potential.
the written ability is incredibly useful, 1 threshold is sweet too. Sometimes awkward to play and can die fast on your opponent's turn, but still very good value overall.
helps a lot to keep the pressure up early in the game.
sometimes just the fact that it counters another root spider is enough to justify the spot in the deck. Suffers mightily against Water Sites and I thought about swapping them out because of the prevalence of Steam Druids, but was too scared to pull the trigger so far. Also sometimes awkward when you'll have to cast it in a along with another unit. But... it's good when it's good.
main focus of the deck to the point where large parts of the deck are built to support her.
the lance makes this one very good, can also be a great unit to play on turn two to counter early or .
and are good enough to merit going to three fire threshold. can be an awkward draw late game, but instant victory early game.
I like having one flying unit, and I like the genesis ability to get rid of pesky blockers like Footsoldiers or Frogs, and it's great against some "buff units" like or .
the ability to play them basically anywhere on the field is very useful, can be a bit awkward because of the high cost when you don't want to cast them in a Town.
on paper great value, I swear he never does anything in game, but I so far refuse to swap him out. Someday he'll do 14 damage in a turn backed by Boudicca. Someday. I think is good value for the price, and unlike Morien he actually already did great things for me.
Minions I'll consider putting in the Deck:
, the info you gain can be huge, low cost but also low power.
love the concept, can theoretically make things super awkward for your opponent.
had them in the deck before, awesome against and RoM. Took them out because I found it hard to get actual impact from them in the current meta.
sweet bury protection in theory, but I also never felt real impact in practice.
wouldn't be bad probably. Unsure who they'd replace, Harpies probably?
I don't know, I don't feel very inclined to put Pudge in with little movement support, and feel it could be weird when I have to play them into . Maybe I just should try some day.
Same deal as pudge above. I'll probably create a spinoff deck to try them.
Magic:
Can kill lots of small guys like frogs or footsoldiers at once, can be a killspell with your opponent on death's door.
Can burrow a Ring of Morrigan or a dangerous (airborne) enemy minion. Never felt bad about having one copy in the deck.
I look for three fire threshold anyway because of Morgana and Boudicca, and I love this card. I feel I get insane value every time I play Warp Spasm and I like that it really can't be planned against, defensive setups just crumble against it.
took the slot had. Still easy to get in range if used as a killspell on death's door, 4 vs. 3 damage can make a big difference, and there's some beasts in the deck for versatility at least.
usually just free 6 damage that can't be planned against.
killspell, RoM dispel, "free" strike damage. Might be worth to carry two of them.
and are panic button style board wipes that can save your butt in a game that got out of hand, and can sometimes be great just to crack things open for a killing blow in the late game.
Sites:
is huge for the deck, having it in your starting hand is the sign for a good time to come. I included what I consider to be all reasonable multi-threshold sites, for the possible aggressive plays it provides (once I realized it doesn't have to connect with your own sites...), and the rest is Deserts and Villages (and 2 ) - common sites with extra value, which in the Desert's case can be absolutely crucial. The value forge brings is probably debatable but I like 9 Deserts and 2 Forges for the moment. Oh and 2 as a bit of security against getting threshold-effed.
It probably would be reasonable to include three times, but I just said eff it. I think it's hard to get real value out of it, in practice you'll want to mulligan it away almost every time.
I'm afraid of running .
