Sam McKinnon is an artist and graphic designer based in Montreal, Canada. From an early age, Sam had a passion for creating illustrations using any materials available, whether pencils, markers, or paint.
As he grew older, his art began to reflect his diverse inspirations, including medieval history, mythology, and nature. In his early twenties, Sam decided to pursue a career as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator.
Over the years, he has worked on a variety of unique projects, ranging from branding and logo design to product illustrations, promotional art for games, and children's book illustrations.
Preferred Medium
My preferred medium is acrylic painting. The paintings I created for the Arthurian Legends set were all done with acrylics. I usually sketch my ideas digitally before using traditional mediums, as it allows me to test different compositions and color palettes seamlessly.
What I love about acrylic painting is how it enables me to showcase vibrant colors and capture light in a natural way. As an artist, I tend to think more in terms of shapes and colors rather than line work. Even when sketching out my ideas, I tend to use large blocks of color right away.
