Pedro G. Ferreira

Pedro G. Ferreira is a traditional illustrator based in Porto, Portugal. Inspired by European folklore from a young age, he found early artistic influence in Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Arthur Rackham, and the Golden Age of Illustration. As his career developed, his passion for art deepened through the works of classical painters like Rembrand and Velásquez, as well as the evocative styles of 80s and 90s Japanese illustrators such as Jun Suemi and Ayami Kojima.

With a love for fantasy and art from a time passed, Pedro redoubled his focus on traditional arts in 2023, moving away from digital art to focus on acrylics, watercolor, and gouache - seeking to capture the rich textures and expressive qualities of his artistic heroes.

His journey to Sorcery: Contested Realm began unexpectedly through an album cover commission, where the producer, a Sorcery fan, introduced him to the game. This ultimately led to a connection with Sorcery’s founder, Erik Olofsson, who immediately recognized Pedro’s talents. Now, as part of the Sorcery community, Pedro embraces the opportunity to contribute to a revival of classic fantasy illustration, bringing his unique vision to life in the contested realm.

Preferred Medium

I’ve found acrylic paint to be a very good midway point between some of the qualities of oil paints and the practicality of quick drying water mediums such as watercolor and gouache, which I also love to work with.
