Elwira Pawlikowska is a Polish-born illustrator and concept designer currently based in Sweden. Her journey into art began in high school, where her fascination with fantasy books and RPG games ignited her passion for drawing. Despite earning a Master's degree from the Warsaw Faculty of Architecture, which her family viewed as a 'serious education,' Elwira focused her career on entering the books and games industry.
Specializing in architectural subjects, Elwira's niche extends beyond conventional designs. Her creative spark is ignited by imaginary worlds rooted in the historical fantasy genre. She meticulously crafts fantasy maps, illustrations, and 'technical' drawings for books and games, alongside developing architectural designs for tabletop miniatures.
Elwira's work seamlessly blends her architectural expertise with her love for fantasy, creating immersive and detailed worlds that captivate audiences. Her unique blend of technical precision and imaginative storytelling continues to define her contributions to the realm of fantasy illustration and concept design.
Preferred Medium
All my Sorcery artworks were created with ink (for outlines) and watercolors (for everything else), which is the medium I feel most comfortable with.
Favorite Works in Sorcery
"Windmill" was the very first illustration I created for Sorcery: Contested Realm. It portrays an idyllic subject reminiscent of Alan Lee's illustrations for 'The Hobbit,' although I'm not sure if you can see this influence
Lord of the Void: What I personally appreciate here is the combination of dark, mysterious, and slightly surreal themes with Gothic architecture. For some reason, I'm also drawn to almost monochromatic artworks. This piece provided an opportunity to unleash my imagination fully while capturing elements I find particularly comfortable to paint.
